excerpt from Face to Face:

REBIRTH

Pussy willows round the pond;
Nature's waved her sacred wand;
Rituals of spring return;
Fiddleheads foretell new fern.

Robins busy mending nests;
Day and night, no creature rests;
Life itself must be renewed,
Males beguiled and females wooed.

Listen closely, hear the song;
Problems do not make life wrong;
Take the hope each season brings;
Fill your soul until it sings.

Hear the peepers, hear the frogs,
Serenading in the bogs;
Hear the crisp, undaunted brook
Rushing into every nook.

You can almost hear the earth
Giving way to life's rebirth;
If you really listen well,
You can hear your own heart swell.
